I would love to know if anyone else can reproduce this. SDAC-B supports playback of PCM content at up to 24 bit/384 kHz, as well as DSD256 (4x), from two inputs that are front-panel switchable, with dual outputs - a full-size dual 3-pin XLR output (4.3VRMS) for balanced operation (the primary feature of the unit), and a 3.5mm TRS connection for single-ended output (2.15VRMS). Intended as a mastering post-production tool for producing high-quality final distribution files in various formats.
HQPLAYER OR MODI 2 PRO
Not really a deal breaker for me, but a minor quirk I wasn't expecting. HQPlayer 4 Pro is a high-quality audio file format converter, recorder, and player with powerful processing facilities. I sold my gungnir for 450, but i am willing to go higher than that. Because of this new outlook on audio I have sold my Schiit Gungnir and am now looking for a new DAC for the Lyr 3. I don't hear the same presentation from the other DACs, particularly in the new Modi's ability to resolve. I have also auditioned other DACs in the Modi 2 Uber's price range, and this would be my go-to DAC for the price. I found that I can adjust the volume knob on my speakers so it isn't audible. Hey everyone, im active on HeadFi and SBAF but after reading here, I decided to take objective measurements more seriously. Overall I think the Modi 2 Uber is a strong recommendation for others on a limited budget looking for a detail oriented DAC. I am currently exchanging emails with Schiit's tech support and hopefully working towards a solution. I found this by accident when I was burning in my HD650s a couple nights ago and had them covered up, so it definitely isn't sound leakage from the headphones. I confirmed this with two different sets of speakers.

I practically have to put my ears right next to the speakers to hear it, but sure enough there is still some sound coming from the preamp out jacks to the speakers. With my Vali 2, I can hear music/audio very faintly through my speakers while headphones plugged in.
Can you hear any sound from your speakers/monitors while playing anything with your headphones? I understand that the preamp out jacks are supposed to mute when headphones are plugged in up front.

Seeing as though you can upsample to 4X via software and 'bypass' the Bifrost Multibit's 4X oversampling filter, this made for an excellent opportunity to compare how HQPlayer's closed-form filter stacks up.
direct signal Now I have just installed HQplayer Desktop and I would like to know the. HQPlayer has recently introduced some form of closed-form filter meant to emulate what Schiit offers. Quick question for anyone using the Vali 2 in hi-gain mode with "harder to drive" cans and speakers/monitors on the preamp out. The Denafrips Ares II is a well reviewed and highly acclaimed DAC.
